Top Tips for Pantry Organisation

Pantries come in all shapes and sizes and an organised pantry will not only make cooking dinner easier, but it will also save you from buying groceries that you already have and create a calming, decluttered space in the heart of your home.
Making the most of your kitchen involves taking advantage of every inch of space and maximising your storage. So, to help you keep your pantry in organisational bliss, we’ve put together some top tips

1. TAKE EVERYTHING OUT
Sometimes things need to get worse before they can get better, and this is often the case with big cleanouts. The first step to an organised pantry is to take everything out.
You’ll want to make sure your countertop, kitchen bench or dining table is empty so you can see it all clearly and sort as you go. Once your pantry is emptied, give your shelves a good clean so they are ready for restocking and organising.

2. SORT INTO CATEGORIES
Now that you can see everything, group what you have into categories. Put your baking goods together, cereals together, cans and jars together, as well as spices etc. This enables you to see what you have and makes the decluttering and organising process much quicker. It is also a good way to catch potential double-ups.

3. INVEST IN BASKETS AND BINS
Straw bins and baskets are a favourite in playrooms, offices, and closets everywhere, but they have a place in your pantry, too. Stack canned foods by category (tomato sauces, vegetables, etc.) without lifting a lid to retrieve them. Or, use them as a catch-all for things like napkins and tablecloths.

4. USE CLEAR MODULAR CONTAINERS
Keep organization simple by using containers with leak-proof lids. You can pile items on top of each other without worrying that they’ll topple over onto the floor the next time you reach for something—and they won’t spill.
Containers also keep food fresh for longer, Pick containers that stack well and are large enough so you don’t end up with half bags of food that won’t fit. Kmart, The Warehouse and Famers are all great places to fit container sets.

5. LABEL EVERYTHING
Keep organization simple by using labels so you know exactly what’s what. Pre-printed vinyl labels bring together organisation and style and are just what you need to quickly and easily find what you are looking for, whilst giving your home a fresh and functional new look.
